One Year Anniversary!

Happy anniversary!!
I have made the decision to further invest in my blog- I bought a DSLR today! Isn't she beautiful? I can't wait to take classes, meet new people, and go exploring, and document it all along the way. :)

Blonde ambition

I attended Glow Fashion show hosted by Alive Magazine at Windows on Washington last night with Rande. It was a great show. I prefer wearability over wacky inspirations- open to interpretations.
While waiting for the 'red carpet' I saw the cutest blonde in the cutest outfit- pink skinnys, blazer aaaaannnddd Litas! She looked great. She was wearing the nude Litas, which looked fab. She has definitely inspired me. I have the black glitter Litas- Which as fab themselves, but they are black, and not that versatile for spring wear...
So I checked out Solestuck today to see what they had available... My goodness there are too many options!!!
Love the freedom of choice!
God Bless the USA!

Paris and Mexico!

Another wonderful weekend has come and passed. *sigh*
I could not be more pleased! The 30th annual antique sale was held in Paris, I've attended for the 2nd year, and found some really stuff to furnish my apartment with. See last years crazy purchase Here. Unfortunately I need a handy man to help me assemble and hang them- so I don't have any photos yet. :(
On Sunday, my mother and I went to the flea market, I found a darling cactus and some fresh plums. It wasn't until we were on our way out that I found the wooden crates at a neighboring antique store. The lady was such a dear.
Here's my story- I've been wanting a bookcase since last spring. A real one, a big one, with lots of character. Not the kind you assemble yourself from target or Walmart- ick. So I was on the hunt more than ever the last couple days- but nothing fit my wants. I've been tossing around the idea of using milk crates, or egg crates, wooden crates in general. Well, this lady had some of the best looking crates for $20 each. She took the time to clean them up- they were beautiful. So I bought her out. I got 5 wonderful old crates. And I am so pleased with the results. And Esme approves.

Pleasing Parfum!

It was a tragic Monday morning- I spritzed the last of my Black Orchid... that means I am currently Perfume Non Committal! I am back on the market for the perfect scent!
My past favorites are, in no particular order:
 Lovely, by SJP
Burberry Brit, by Burberry
Black Orchid, by Tom Ford
But, I feel as though I need to try something else, find something just as striking!
There are so many notes and layers of tones to choose from.. I have a difficult time explaining to you what my signature scent is, but I definitely know it when I see, well, smell it!
I just did a little 'research' on Sephora and saw that Tom Ford has a new scent called "Violet Blonde."

Sounds like a perfect match- now, its time to let my nose decide.
Do you have any lovely scented advice? What is your signature scent?

Since Thursday

Good morning lovely blog followers and dear friends!

I pray you all are having the finest Monday morning possible! I started my day off swatting at a wasp while in the shower and a yummy soy latte to celebrate the kill.

It's been a while since I've wrote to you all, and I apologize. I've been pretty busy with mediocre stuff. Nothing SUPER exciting going on over here. The first couple weeks of March are always a little boring. However, this weather is fabulous! Its been 80 degrees in the midwest since last Monday! I joined a boot camp class that is held twice a week at Forest Park- that is a blast! I always leave super sore and sweaty, which is exactly what I need.

Outfit post from last Thursday:
Paperbag skirt: UO, Chambray shirt: H&M, Wedges: MRKT

I met up with my good friend Tracy Friday afternoon, I like to think we played hookie from work, but our office closed at 2pm... I was out running errands for the company so I decided to just STAY out and not go back. Tracy and I ate yummy Mexican before going to the shooting range! We had such a great time, it was a beautiful day, and it was finished with a sundae from Fritz's!

Its all fun and games until someone loses and eye... that ALMOST happened. Hot brass fell down my eye pro- it burned my cheek! I have a battle scar!!

Saturday was Saint Patrick's Day! Hopefully everyone wore green and avoided the pinches! My father, sister and I ran a 7k in Cottleville- it was the Run for the Helmet! I love me some firefighters!!

How did YOU celebrate your St. Patrick's Day?!

Later that night I went to a bonfire held by friends out in the sticks- that was a good time. I love going out there, especially during this time- you can hear the tree frogs that have just come out hiding. Its a wonderful, peaceful sound. When I got home, there was one hanging out on our screen door. Cute little things.

We got new chicks! 22 to be exact. We're going to have LOTS of fresh eggs, now. Our current girls are getting old, they only lay about every other day.

Sloppy Sundays! Here is proof of my scar- its small, but definitely there!

Happy Monday!! Have a great day!

Creative movement x MCV

Sunday! What a glorious morning it was! I went to church, which is right around the corner (definitely walking next time.) I need to find a bike, so I can pedal my way to worship Jesus Christ!
I am so thankful for the day that the Lord has made, it was a wonderful warm 50's this morning! I wore a skirt without the requirement of tights for warmth! Besides my legs being starkly white, almsot purple (transluscent) it felt amazing.

Weekend Recap:
Friday night I rushed to my parents place to attend an auction in Truxton. It was interesting, only a few items were worthy of our attention- and we ended up having the highest bid on both! You shall see these fabulous treasures after Easter.

Saturday I spent the majority of the day being creative. I decided to break out the sewing machine and my scrap fabric from 10 years ago. I thought I would try my hand at sewing. As very few probably know/remember, I was crowned Miss Warren County in 2005- my talent for the show was a 'runway show' complete with all my sewn creations. My favorite item was a green cropped jacket trimmed in yellow- (imagine a marching band jacket.) It was fabulous!

Anyway, my main goal was to create a skirt, and then dip dye/bleach it. I made three skirts in total, but only one turned out how I wanted.

I simply dipped the bottom of the skirt in a bucket of bleach... I think next time, I need to use a paint brush and 'paint' the bleach on the skirt. It came out a little too blochy. But I love the idea and results and cannot wait to try it out again. Maybe next time I'll use a pair of old jeans... Hmmm..

One of the trends this Spring that I am pretty excited about, is Tangerine. Tangerine clothes, shoes and accessories! I was a little weary at first about wearing bright orange, but then I decided I can incorporate this colorful trend in to my wardrobe in other ways- and I believe the first step of introduction is through jewely.

I am in love with this necklace- and I made it! It's the first of many.
