Always Remember (Ms Madelyn...)

You may think the past has something to tell you. You may think that you should listen, should strain to make out its whispers, should bend over backward, stoop down low to hear its voice breathed up from the ground, from the dead places. You may think there’s something in it for you, something to understand or make sense of.
But I know the truth: I know from the nights of coldness. I know the past will drag you backward and down, have you snatching at whispers of wind and the gibberish of trees rubbing together, trying to decipher some code, trying to piece together what was broken. Its hopeless. The past is nothing but a weight. It will build up inside of you like a stone.
Take it from me, if you hear the past speaking to you, feel it tugging at your back and running its fingers up your spine, the best thing to do —the only thing— is run.

Pumpkin Surprise

Last night was my 2nd night in my new place. So far so good... I have not encountered any ghosts! It has been pretty mild here in St. Louis for the last few days, so I had all my windows open last night to cool the place down. I am SO glad I closed my windows before I left because the temperature must have dropped 15 degrees! It is very chilly outside right now.
I've been spending the last few nights packing and unpacking, paying close attention to my closet. With all this moving I've decided to get a little more creative and motivated with the clothes in my closet. I decided to wear a skirt I haven't worn in a VERY long time. I hope I don't have to leave the office much, or I will be freezing!
Oh- and special thanks to Rande for the pumpkin cake from Carondelet Bakery... it was deliciousss!

I attempted to do ombre nails... well, I blame it on my poor packing. I didn't have the right colors! But it was a nice try...

Skirt and belt- UO, Blouse- Landsend, Mary Janes- SM, Bracelets- JCrew, vintage and H&M

Coffee with Pumpkin cream and pumpkin cake. Thanks Rande!

Light my Fire

This place, is where I want to be. I love everything about it. The view, snow on the mountains in the background, surrounded by nothing but nature at its finest. Surreal. A cute little house with a barn, a clothes line. If I had to guess, this is either New Zealand or Europe (UK.) They probably have flock of sheep and chickens. A horse or mule to get wherever need be.
I am head over heels for this place of comfort.
Light my fire.

Love these ombre nails... I'm going to try this tonight with gold and brown!

Cute and colorful. Love the pink trimmed doors

Adore the wall hangings

I am missing spring

Perfect coffee table

Pink sweater- Zara. Love this look. I still need a denium button collared shrit

I found a bear skin at the Wentzville Flea Market Sunday- $450... a little too much... It had the head, and claws!

I found a great wooden tray at the flea market as well- pefect for my serving glasses

Must find open toe booties, and a big faux fur coat!

Not a big fan of Olivia- but I adore her style 100% of the time. Looking at the see through skirt here. Love it!

Must try this next summer-

I fond a mirror like this one at the market, but it was WAY too heavy, and not tall enough to just lean against the wall.

Makes me miss my short summer vacay in Phoenix.

Wanted: Book shelf!

All time favorite movie- and completely feeling this way- all I have in my fridge is champagne and milk.
Ballet shoes are still in packed away

Love these gold pants

I've been really attracted to sitting photos, instead of hung.. I need more tables/shelves!

No major events going on this week... Well Um... Besides the World Series!! Our beloved St. Louis Cardinals are fighting for the world championship against the Arlington Texas Rangers! How exciting. I LOVE Baseball!!!

I met up with a friend last night in Saint Charles to watch game one, a friend that I haven't seen in 3+ years. I've been spending some great time catching up with old friends from the past. It truly is bananas how we lose touch with ourselves and old relationships when our main focus is averted- but I guess that is life. When we have one addition, a subtraction always follows... but why does this happen? I know it doesn't HAVE to happen, but it always does. Whether its a new job, boyfriend, children, we always tend to let the slack out until the string slips out of our grasp... But I've realized that they never veer too far, I just have to take the time to find them, and there they are... back within reach.
God is good.

Boyfriend sweater: J Crew; blue skirt, leather jacket, skinny belt: All UO; Scarf: Target
Brrr it was cold this morning

May the bridges I burn light the way.

Thanks to solestruck.

Meet Elizabeth

Elizabeth Chase Olsen, the younger sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley. When I first saw her on the cover of Nylon Magazine, I Immediately knew her face.  Yes, I've seen a couple of her films, but there was something so familiar about her. She definitely has that Olsen flair. Elizabeth is currently starring in five new roles, including the Sundance film Martha Marcy May Marlene, which will hit select theaters this month. I definitely look forward to seeing more of her on the screne and the pages of my beloved magazines!

Deutsch Country Days

For the past 23 years my parents have been volunteering their time at Deutsch Country Days at Luxenhaus Farm in Marthasville, Missouri. Every year, a German heritage festival is held at the huge farm, complete with authentic food and vendors. My sister and I have been active in participating as well. All through our school years we would dress up and help out in some way- either helping serve kettle beef and german potatoes or picking up trash, but this year was by far the best. My sister was invited to have her very own booth where she and I demonstrated spinning wool from our sheep and then knitting the spun yarn. I worked very hard on a cowl that I am determined to finish by the first snow fall!
Here you can see her booth and all the pretty wool that she has collected, spun and dyed.
It truly is fascinating seeing the people's faces light up when they are told of the LONG process of making a sweater. Some people have no idea whatsoever the beginning processes of knits.
I am extremely proud and blessed to be part of such an involved, self-sustained family.

Holy Moley

LOOK what I stumbled upon... I completely forgot I had these photos saved on my computer under another folder.
I found these photos WAY back in March when I was looking to buy  my first house.

I love the crisp white with the big-patterned area rug. Great lines make up this room.

I love the mirrored shelving here, the colors are fabulous- rich.

This is for sure is my favorite- drawn on crown molding and look at the chandlier- divine.

Interesting clash of patterns...

Love the jade. I cannot wait to incorporate my Jadite dishes!

Kitchen shelving instead of cabinets- love it. Love the piece of furniture in the room to the right too.
